Government adopts bio-fuel production strategy

Luanda – The Angolan Government recently approved the bio-fuel production strategy, with a view to contributing to rural development, through economic integration of agricultural products in the rural communities, within the bio-fuels production chain, Angop learned Thursday in Luanda.

The information is contained in the informative bulletin of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries that reached Angop.

According to the source, the strategy also seeks to turn Angola into one of the leading countries in the production of bio-fuels in Africa.

The programme is also intended to meet some needs in energy, through the promotion of energetic diversification, preservation of environment and contribution to diversification of the Angolan economy.

Another purposes of the programme are to increase cultivation areas, thus contributing to relaunch agriculture and develop the production chain, with a view to creating an upstream and downstream industry and ensuring future renewable sources of energy.

The bulletin also states that the Government intends to reduce gas emissions that damage the atmosphere and environment and enable the country to participate in the carbon credit market under the Kyoto Protocol.
